Well, Mother's Day flew by fast.  I spent Saturday driving down south but enjoyed my time with just my son at my side.  I stopped at Woodstock Nursery in Manning what a great little nursery.  It was jammed packed with hanging baskets, perennials, a whole hoop house full of just peppers and tomatoes, then there was a hoop house full of bedding plants, geraniums and Rex begonias.  There were shrubs, blueberries and so much more.  I bought a whole car load of potting mix and compost which was promised to be the best so we'll see.  Then off I went and stopped at another great nursery in McMinnville, OR and finally found pink jasmine after a half a dozen nurseries saying they can't get it.  Oh, I was so excited so I picked up two so now I have three.  Then down to Monmouth by then it was 80 degrees out and I was melting.  My daughter picked up four scented geraniums for me at the Master Gardener plant sale I believe that was in Polk County.  Now I have more scented geraniums I'm so excited.

The weather has turned to overcast and drizzle again our normal May weather and not the hot 70 degree days.  A lot of my seedlings in the hoop house got way to hot and I'm not sure if they will come out of it. I haven't had a lot of time to take pictures other than the one I added to The Seasonal Bouquet.  If you want to see what other flower farmers are doing this is a great blog.

84 is that hot enough for you?

This weather is crazy.  Way to hot to do anything but water.... I found this creepy bug in my garden today.
Maybe the hot weather brought it in?  What is it?  It is huge at least 2" and fast it scurried along with it's long creepy legs.  It's laying on it's back because I stepped on it to stop it.

Then it flipped back over

My hostas are looking good!

I got some nice rudbeckia from Raker this week

Made some bouquets and bouts

HOT! HOT! HOT!

Business is Blooming and Booming

Exciting news!  You will soon be able to get fresh bouquets from my flower farm at a new shop opening up in Cannon Beach.  A friend of mine Kimberley Speer-Miller is opening the new store called Accents 1925.  The shop will be all about the Northwest's Bounty from fresh flowers, vintage wares, handmade delectables,  top notch soy candles and more.  The store is located at #1347 S Hemlock St. Cannon Beach, OR.  I will keep you posted as to the opening date sometime late May or Early June.

I love beneficial insects.  Released in the green house a swarm of lady beetles

Somethings Are So Exciting

It's been very busy for me around here.  Planting tons of new to me varieties of seeds, planting my baby seedlings, watering, weeding........

We rented a small Skid Steer and removed all the stumps and dirt that would be in the way of the new hoop house.  It looks like a complete mess and a lot of my rudbeckia and lilies were displaced but soon it will be looking like something.

Lots of baby plants

We covered up the lilies to keep the rain and hail off of them.

I am gearing up for a wonderful year of growing awesome flowers and other fun stuff.

April Finally

Spring Break was a bust my son had pneumonia and I was recovering from my cold.  So everyone is on the mend.  Saturday, March 30, for the record was 73 deg. here.  Today we are back to drizzle but the weekend was beautiful here are highlights.

Lilies coming up fast in crates

I had to move everything around and trays out of the greenhouse into the cold frames

What a beautiful site a pair of eagles in the spruce tree, look at the top of the tree.

Spring or Not?

Well, Spring is officially here and what does it look like in Warrenton?

Slightly on the chilly side with a topping of hail.

As for the greenhouse what's inside?

Orange blossoms from my newly acquired citrus trees

But, the whole family developed a really bad case of the crud just as the tulips started to turn and my new seed order came in.  So I haven't been able to pick any flowers or start any more seeds these past few days.
I hope everyone stays healthy.
